Summer in the city means lots of free outdoor music, from picnic performances in Bryant Park to shows in Prospect Park. Mayor Eric Adams is joining in on the fun by expanding “Rise Up NYC,” an annual summer concert series hosted in all five boroughs. There will be 18 performances through the end of August, up from eight shows last year.
This summer marks the third Rise Up NYC series, which started in 2022 as a way for New Yorkers to reconnect with the city and their neighbors after the pandemic.
“Music and the arts are essential to our city, and this summer, we are going to amplify the experience and make sure we are giving residents of the five boroughs an all-star experience at no cost,” Adams said. “We welcome all New Yorkers to join us in celebrating the vibrant energy of our city through the shared joy of music.”
Hosted in partnership with the City Parks Foundation SummerStage, the series kicked off on July 14 at the Herbert Von King Park in Bed-Stuy with Common, Pete Rock, and other performers, and will run through August 25.
A full concert line-up will be released in the coming weeks. Get more details on the series here.
