An office tower in Midtown is luring tenants with food and lush outdoor space. SL Green this week unveiled plans for a steakhouse by Chef Daniel Boulud at One Madison Avenue, an adaptive-reuse commercial building facing Madison Square Park. In addition to La Tête d’Or by Daniel, the first-ever steakhouse from the French chef, the tower will feature a sprawling event and rooftop space designed by David Rockwell and catered by Boulud.
La Tête d’Or by Daniel takes inspiration from the American steakhouse but adds Parisian style. Opening to the public in November, the restaurant will feature a Rockwell Group-designed 150-person main dining area, a cocktail bar with lounge seating, a private dining room, and a private omakase steak and seafood table.
“La Tête d’Or will be a true American steakhouse with a French ‘triple s’ branding: soul, seasoning and sauces!” Boulud said in a statement. “I look forward to welcoming guests into this new Madison Square Park neighborhood destination where they will experience our creative approach to traditional flavors.”
The chef also runs Le Pavillon and Jōji at SL Green’s One Vanderbilt skyscraper.
On the 28th floor of the building will be Le Jardin sur Madison, a 6,200-square-foot event space designed by Rockwell Group joined by a 5,000-square-foot rooftop garden designed by SMI Landscape Architecture.
The indoor space features cathedral ceilings with wood details and a soaring skylight. Designed as a spot for meetings, grabbing coffee, or a place to “recharge,” the rooftop is accessible only to tenants of One Madison during the day. In the evening, the rooftop will open up for private parties and other events. Chef Boulud will handle the food and beverage options for this space as well.
“With Le Jardin sur Madison, we are excited to provide One Madison tenants with an indoor-outdoor oasis for dining, working, events, and conversation,” David Rockwell, founder and president of Rockwell Group, said. “Rockwell Group’s design concept celebrates structure, truth to materials and natural light to create an inviting space that emphasizes spectacular views of the city and Madison Square Park.”
SL Green redeveloped One Madison Avenue with a 13-story addition on top of the existing 14-story building. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, the 1.4 million-square-foot tower, which was officially completed last fall, is home to tenants like IBM, Chelsea Piers Fitness, and Franklin Templeton.
This week SL Green announced new leases signed by a financial services firm, a subsidiary of sports betting company Flutter Entertainment, and Italian specialty shop Alidoro. The building is now over 60 percent leased.
