Pottery Barn’s new ‘Friends’ collection will be there for you…and your apartment
“Friends” is set to leave Netflix by the end of the year, but devoted fans now have a new way to keep their favorite moments close by. As the show prepares to celebrate its 25th anniversary, Pottery Barn has just launched the much-anticipated FRIENDS x Pottery Barn collection, comprised of furniture, tableware, and other household accessories inspired by the classic ’90s sitcom. Ranging from a $1,099 apothecary coffee table to a $29.50 throw pillow featuring the iconic shade of purple in Monica’s apartment—there’s a little something for everyone, whether you’re a Rachel, a Joey, or a Phoebe.
The showpiece in the collection is undeniably the Apothecary Coffee Table, which references the episode from season six, aptly named “The One With The Apothecary Table.” In the episode, Rachel purchases the piece from a Pottery Barn catalog but pretends it was a flea market find after she finds out that Phoebe hates the retailer. True to its original form, the coffee table features antique-inspired hardware and drawers originally designed for CDs.
The rest of the collection features a range of decorative objects inspired by memorable moments: there’s a Central Perk commuter mug, a print of the signature fountain scene, and coffee mugs adorned with classic one-liners like “Joey Doesn’t Share Food” scrawled in the familiar font.
And if you don’t mind the $29.50 entrance fee, an immersive “Friends”-themed pop-up installation is coming to Soho this September, as Gothamist reported. It’ll be a chance to step into the world of the show, complete with “set recreations of Joey & Chandler’s apartment, Central Perk (obviously), tons of photo opportunities and the chance to learn how to be as type A as Monica when it comes to cleaning, presented by Method,” per the event’s FAQ. Tickets for the month-long pop-up went on sale today and are expected to sell out.
