The 110-year-old Lower East Side icon Russ & Daughters officially opened a new location in Hudson Yards this week. Located on the ground floor of the skyscraper 50 Hudson Yards at 34th Street and 10th Avenue, the 4,500-square-foot shop sells its signature Jewish specialties like smoked fish, bagels, bialys, and babka and offers seat-yourself dining and soon-to-open caviar and champagne bar.

Taking center stage in the shop is the appetizing counter with a hand-sliced fish and bagel bakery. The restaurant’s design takes inspiration from all of the outposts, with decor like “hand-painted lightboxes, neon signs, original artwork and appetizing showcases,” as 6sqft previously reported.
In addition to its new Hudson Yards outpost, Russ & Daughters has locations on East Houston Street and Orchard Street on the Lower East Side and a storefront in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Developed by Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group, 50 Hudson Yards topped out in February 2021. Measuring 1,011 feet tall, the Fosters + Partners-designed building is one of the largest buildings in NYC by square footage.
Related Properties asked Russ & Daughters in 2021 to join as one of the many retailers at Hudson Yards, as Grub Street reported.
“I said, ‘You wouldn’t be interested in us,'” Niki Russ Federman, the shop’s current co-owner, told the magazine, referring to the developer’s proposal. “We were really looking for something like a ghost kitchen, and I thought there was no way they would devote so much space to us.”
Russ & Daughters first announced the Hudson Yards storefront in October 2022. The new location is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and offers delivery to Hudson Yards and the surrounding neighborhood.
