‘Scarface’ Director Brian De Palma Buys Second Co-op in Fifth Avenue Building for $1.8M
Filmmaker Brian De Palma just bought a second unit at 1 Fifth Avenue in Greenwich Village according to city records. The famous director of “Scarface” and “Carrie” already owns an apartment on the 23rd floor of the Gold Coast building, where’s he’s lived since at least 1989, but his latest acquisition is a two-bedroom unit for which he paid $1,750,000.
According to the listing, the apartment boasts southern views that directly front Washington Mews, a renovated open kitchen, split bedrooms and two full baths.
The building has quite the celebrity cachet. Rolling Stones guitar player Keith Richards listed his own four-bedroom apartment at the same building for $12.2 million last week. TV Sitcom Director James Burrows (known for “Cheers,” “Frasier,” “Will & Grace,” and “Friends”) is also a neighbor. He and his wife, hairstylist Debbie Easton, bought a one-bedroom apartment for $4.2 million last year.

To be super rich like he was, I expected his ”digs” to be a lot fancier, and more modern, altho, he is quit older/mature
Always admired this building as a youngster. My great uncle – William B. Clarke lived at One Fifth Avenue for most of his life from 1933 until his death in 1969. Fond memories visiting there way back when. Still an impressive building. Jeffrey Ralli , Chester, NJ
