Taylor Swift’s former carriage house rental in the West Village is under contract
Taylor Swift’s onetime West Village rental, a carriage house at 23 Cornelia Street, is in contract to sell, the New York Post reported on Wednesday. The property, which measures roughly 5,500 square feet, was last listed for $14.9 million, a dramatic drop in price from the $24.5 million it was listed for in April 2017. As 6sqft previously learned, the pop star rented the pad in 2016 for $40,000 per month while her Tribeca penthouse was under renovation.
Built in 1912, the carriage house was renovated by owner and Soho House executive David Aldea, who purchased it for $5.3 million in 2005. Aldea outfitted the five-story home with two master bedrooms, a two-story patio, an indoor swimming pool, and a private garage.
Overall, the 21-foot wide townhouse features four bedrooms, five baths, and two half-baths. The property boasts unique design elements, including double-height ceilings, three original fireplaces, and hardwood floors. The living room comes with a dramatic glass chandelier, patio access, and tons of wall space to show off artwork.
The updated kitchen comes equipped with a Wolf oven and gas stove, a Subzero fridge and wine fridge, all surrounded by stunning granite countertops. Another interesting feature, walls made of brick (imported from Paris), separate the dining area and kitchen and another chandelier can be found.
The room with the indoor swimming pool has Basalt stone tile floor, double height ceilings, and a chandelier. The pool itself measures 30 feet by 15 feet.
The third floor includes both master suites, which feature floor-to-ceiling custom windows that overlook Cornelia Street. The larger of the two bedrooms has a dual sink bathroom with two entrances. A separate bath connects to a private terrace, which includes an outdoor gas fireplace.
And the rooftop terrace faces south, allowing for incredible city skyline and Washington Square Park views.
