Seasoned straphangers are mentally girded for the worst of subway news, but the MTA’s most recent blow to L train service is still a low one: through the end of November, L trains won’t be running between Broadway Junction and 8th Avenue late nights (10:45 pm to 5am) on weeknights. Yikes.
South Ferry-bound 1 trains skip Christopher, Houston, Canal, Franklin and 238 streets.
Flatbush Avenue-bound 2 trains skip Christopher, Houston, Canal and Franklin streets. No 2 service between Nereid Avenue and 241 Street – free shuttle buses provide alternate service.
3 trains skip 145 Street in both directions through November.
No 4 train service between Brooklyn Bridge and New Lots Avenue. Manhattan-bound 4 trains skip 176, Mt. Eden Avenue, 170, 167 and 161 streets. 4 trains run every 16 minutes between 125 Street and Woodlawn.
No 5 service between Grand Central-42 Street and Bowling Green.
No 7 service between Queensboro Plaza and 34 St-Hudson Yards – free shuttle buses provide alternate service. Queensboro Plaza-bound 7 trains skip 69, 52, 46, 40 and 33 streets.
No late night (10:45 pm to 5am) L train service between Broadway Junction and 8 Avenue through the end of November.
42 Street Shuttle Service runs overnight through October 29.
D and N trains run every 12 minutes.
Coney Island-bound F trains run via the E from Roosevelt Avenue to 5 Av/53 Street, resuming regular service at 47-50 Streets.
M service runs between Metropolitan Avenue and 47-50 Streets and via the Q between Lexington Av/63 Street and 96 Street.
Astoria-bound N trains skip 36 Avenue and 30 Avenue.
No Q train service in Manhattan. Q trains run between Stillwell Avenue and Prospect Park – free shuttle buses provide alternate service.
No R service between 95 Street and 36 Street – free shuttle buses provide alternate service. No late night R service.
Special W service runs between Whitehall Street and Ditmars Boulevard. Astoria-bound W trains skip 36 Avenue and 30 Avenue.
No J service between Crescent Street and Jamaica Center – free shuttle buses provide alternate service.
Per the whims of the MTA, there will probably be other problems, and the problems stated above are subject to change and worsen.
