The first ice skating rink on the Williamsburg waterfront is now open. Located within the newly-completed public plaza Domino Square, the 7,000-square-foot rink offers skaters stunning views of the Manhattan skyline and East River. The rink offers public skating, themed events, and private rentals, with holiday-themed skate nights and live DJ sessions throughout the season.
“With the opening of the first ice rink on the Williamsburg waterfront, we’re providing an unforgettable winter experience against the breathtaking backdrop of the Manhattan skyline,” Jed Walentas, principal at Two Trees Management, said in a statement.
“As the Square transforms into a winter wonderland this season, we have no doubt this new public space will continue to be well received by the local community.”
The rink operates daily from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends and holidays. Admission is $12 for adults and $8 for children, with skate rentals starting at $5. On Wednesdays, skaters can enjoy half-priced admission and rentals.
Corporate groups can rent out the rink for private events, with catering provided by local eateries such as Roberta’s and Fini Pizza.
The rink lies in the center of Domino Square, a new public plaza that opened in September. Designed by landscape architecture firm Field Operations, the space features a bowl-like interior with a lifted edge, plantings, and tiered seating.
Domino Square sits between The Refinery at Domino, a 19th-century factory converted into modern offices, and One Domnio Square, a residential development designed by Annabelle Selldorf with 160 condos and 400 rentals. Domino Square marks the completion of the final public portion of Two Trees’ Domino master plan, which includes the redevelopment of the 11-acre Domino Sugar factory site into a mixed-use neighborhood.
